Colourful Waters
One of the things we liked most about this area of Canada was the abundance of lakes, often brilliant shades of blue and green.
Lake Louise, probably the most famous of the lakes in this area, has a dramatic backdrop of snow capped mountains.
View of Peyto Lake and its fabulous turquoise water. The colour comes from fine mountain dust created by the grinding of rock by glaciers further upstream. The dust, suspended in the water, affects the way that light is reflected.
A different shade of turquoise in a river gorge close to Athabasca Falls.
